Pull strategy

The term comes from the English word for ‘pull’. Instead of the producer trying to sell the product, it actively solicits consumers to buy the product. It is an action aimed at increasing preference for a product or brand, for example through a Direct Mail campaign, advertisement or social media campaign. This should lead to consumers asking about the product in shops, which in turn leads the retailer to purchase the product from the manufacturer.
