QR stands for Quick Response. A QR code is an advanced, square barcode that can contain much more information than a standard barcode. This makes the code very suitable for marketing purposes. You can scan the code with your mobile phone’s camera, which will take you directly to a website (page). You can then immediately receive information about a product or instantly watch a video online.
A QR code is often included in a physical Direct Mail (mail piece) to easily direct you to a special response page or payment environment.
For charities, there is also the special Tikkie QR code. This is a personalised QR code on a personal letter. Donors scan the Tikkie QR code on the letter with their mobile phone and can immediately make a donation. As the Tikkie QR code is personalised, the recipient (the charity) knows exactly from whom the donation came.
